Success if for everyone, whatever your status in life, there is nothing prohibiting you to achieve that triumph. We all heard their stories, from rags to riches, as a janitor who became the CEO of the company. No hindrance and the prosperity is just there for grabs. But to some, even working more than 8 hours a day 7 days a week or even working in holidays for that double pay salary are not enough for them to succeed. Though success is subjective, we could say that Warren Buffet, President Donald John Trump, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, Julia Roberts, Madonna, Whoopi Goldberg and Jack Ma are those lucky ones in the wings of success.

But what are the common denominators of these successful people? What sets them apart from the majority?  What sets those who accomplish great things apart from those who fail to realize their ambitions? You might guess education from that Ivy League school, appetite for risk, or even creativity. Might be right? but check what  I found.

“The best predictor of success in life is none of these usual suspects–it’s your mindset. Those who achieve great things generally believe they can improve and grow as people. This is called a “growth mindset.” Those who are frustrated in their attempts to realize their dreams tend to believe their abilities and talents are static, a.k.a. they have a “fixed mindset.” According to pioneering Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck.

It’s the same thing about how you accept the projects from your Boss if you are an employee. Whether you will receive it as just another job to accomplish or a blessing that you have that project. Looks same to you? No, read it again. The first one means it’s just a routine work yo need to accomplish because you are an employee and needs to accomplish any task given to you without any effort to finish it fast since you have a projected time for the submission. The other person view it as a blessing, always happy and grateful to receive the project because for him, other people are just waiting for that position. He enjoys doing the project. Two people but different mindset.

Another sample, in a restaurant that needs to close between 2PM to 5PM then open it again from 5PM to 11PM. Employees are not accepting any jobs between 2PM to 5PM because they feels that, it’s extra work, without pay and their time to sleep. Who the heck are sleeping between those time? Another set of employees, accepted the simple task between those times to set up the tables that can be finished within 20 minutes, jobs done, the employer is happy and thinking to promote these people for that extra mileage done. Two sets of employees but with different mindsets. Other research has shown that attitudes towards a task matter just as much as a person’s actual ability to perform them.

According to Dweck,  “It’s all about your mindset. Successful people tend to focus on growth, solving problems, and self-improvement, while unsuccessful people think of their abilities as fixed assets and avoid challenges.”

Now that you know already about the mindset of all successful people have. Do something. Switch.
