Holidays are the most awaited time for employees so they can get additional vacation times without having to leave. However, for some employees, a long holiday can also be overwhelming since they must set the deadline to finish responsibilities before taking leaves. If you’re planning on taking a long holiday in the near future, take a look at these tips.

  1. Set Priorities

Towards the ‘long vacation’ atmosphere, try to make a list of priorities first. Determine which task must be completed immediately and pay attention to the deadline. Make sure you complete the most important first to anticipate sudden next deadlines.

  1. Go Home Late

For a special case like this you may want to spare more time to finish your job. Towards the long vacation, it never hurts to ‘sacrifice’ a day to go home later than you usually do. This doesn’t mean that you’re taking more task, but to get the job done faster so you can enjoy your holiday comfortably.

  1. Do the Tasks One by One, A Week Before the Holiday

How many tasks can you do a day? Let’s assume two tasks. Before the holiday, consider adding more percentage of work to redeem your duties. Most importantly, make sure you have set the number one priority.

  1. Use Your Time More Effectively

This is especially if you tend to return to work late after lunch and come to work rather late. Towards your long vacation, try to reduce leisure time. Try to coming and returning to work after lunch on time so you have more time to work on responsibilities.

  1. Ask for A Backup

Last but not least, if you’re working with a team, make sure you have also communicated with team members regarding temporary handover. For example, you need someone to back you up during scheduled event. Run a meeting with the team to decide who will cover you and list the tasks. Provide an overview of the tasks along with any resources that they might need. As a thank you, you might want to treat them lunch while meeting.
